At the early years of World War II......
It was design for Panzergrenadiers because German Divisions were using Briltzkrieg tactics to break through French defences along The Maginot Line. The Army Corps would acompany the Panzergrenadiers with tanks to protect the 10 infantrymen inside the vehicle. There were around 15,000 of these half-tracks made through out WW2. Also, there were a large amount of variations of this half-track. For example it was equipped with an artillery piece, or a machine gun.
