This is our latest Lego® WW2 tank build our M26 Pershing. In World War II the M26 Pershing was an American heavy tank. It weighed about 42 tonnes so it was quite a small heavy tank. It had a 90mm M3 gun, it was an average gun for the time. It was better than the Tiger I. There are many reports of Pershing tanks taking out Panthers and also Tiger tanks. In January 1945, the first Pershing tanks were deployed in France. About 310 of them were deployed in Europe before the war ended. The most common Pershing was the T26E3 variant.
Many Pershings encountered Panthers in France during the later days of the war and there are many videos of tank battles taking place between the Pershings and Panthers. The
most famous is in the Battle Of Cologne, this is the first main tank battle caught on film.
Pershings had a .30 calibre machine gun in the right of the bow which was manned by the co-driver. In total the tank had a crew of 5 men. In the front left of the bow, the driver would sit and drive the tank. The role of the commander was to manage the tank and the crew. And to tell the driver where to go and how fast to go. The maximum speed of the tank was 25 mph which was produced by the 500 horsepower engine, it was located in the back.
Overall, the Pershing Tank series was a success because it was used throughout:
World War II and the Korean War. And it was favourable by the crews.
Our Lego® WW2 M26 Pershing model is built with 100% Genuine Lego® bricks. The movable tracks allow you to recreate realistic battle scenes and battlefields. The turret can rotate 360 degrees and the main gun can elevate and depress, just like the real tank. The two hatches on top of the turret are openable. With this model, you can recreate the classic and famous WW2 battles.
